WAKE UP ALARM

Wake up to a false alarm, only to find its not the alarm its your better half croaking in sleep. What a relief, there is still some time till the real one croaks. Before the alarm hits off, there is someone almost doing gym stunts with our doorbell. And the only thing I want to do after opening the door, is to slap the guy with same intensity. Ah! the medicine guy. I have no other way but to pass the best cordial smile and go back to where I belong at this hour. To sleep that is. Feel a pinch as I enter the room as husband is totally unaware of the activities around, he is still snoring soundly (quite literally at that). What wonderful life! Prodding on the same thought I try to catch up with sleep. In the process, my eye sets on the paper. Check out which colour to wear, roll the paper and go back to sleep.
By now I am in auto and the rickshawallah is seriously not interested in traffic rules. I am of course. So i tell him to slow down and stop at necessary junctions. But I guess he is deaf too. I want to him to stop at this very moment and get down. And who is this insane guy honking ever since he left home. I am furious and put my left feet out to touch the biting cold floor. And the guy honking so loud is my alarm clock doing its assigned job. Finally! Pause. Shut up. Between rage and some relief (of not being on that insane auto) I gulp down a glass of water. Pacifies some rage and disgust in a way. I walk out of the room. Make myself a huge mug of tea (a Patiala you could say). Pick up the paper, come across some insanely depressing, heart wrenching news. Flip pages. Stop and laugh at Calvin and Hobbes. See some funny ads. Put the paper back and pick up a Lonely Planet. And thoughts start wandering even before I finish the article. Haven't come out of the dream zone probably. I try to concentrate, but my brain seems to create new places. Write about new wonderlands. And all this while, there is still a thing that keeps me grounded to reality. My husband and his loud snoring. He is in a better place and world. That I am assuming.
